A Note from Our Secretary General
Dear Delegates,
It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you to ILMUNC Dubai 2026, hosted in collaboration with Big Red Education (BRE) and UniHawk. Bringing ILMUNC to Dubai for the first time is something our entire team has looked forward to for months, and I couldn’t be more excited to see it finally come to life.
At ILMUNC, our mission has always been to create meaningful spaces for students to learn, lead, and connect through diplomacy. Whether in Philadelphia or across our international conferences, ILMUNC is about more than resolutions or awards – it’s about curiosity, collaboration, and the friendships that grow out of shared passion for global issues. This year, we’re thrilled to see that same spirit come alive here in Dubai – a city that embodies innovation, diversity, and global connection.
This conference would not be possible without the unwavering support of Big Red Education and UniHawk. Your partnership and dedication have been essential to making this conference a reality, and we are so grateful for your trust in us. I also want to recognize our incredible Secretariat, whose hard work, creativity, and enthusiasm have shaped every part of this experience. None of this would exist without their effort and heart.
Over the next few days, I hope you take every opportunity to challenge yourself, listen to others, and find inspiration in the people around you. The best part of Model UN is not what happens in resolutions, but what happens in conversations – the ideas, perspectives, and connections that stay with you long after the conference ends.
On behalf of the entire ILMUNC Dubai Secretariat, thank you for being part of this first-ever iteration. We cannot wait to welcome you to Dubai and see all the incredible work, debate, and collaboration you’ll bring to the table.
See you in committee,
Halima Osman

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Model United Nations, and what happens at ILMUNC Dubai?
Model UN is an educational simulation where students represent countries in UN committees, debating real international issues. At ILMUNC Dubai, delegates research their assigned country’s position, write position papers, and negotiate diplomatically to draft resolutions. Our 3-day conference features committee sessions where delegates speak, debate, and build consensus on topics ranging from human rights to nuclear non-proliferation.
Do I need prior Model UN or debate experience?
Not at all! ILMUNC welcomes first-time delegates. Our beginner committees are specifically designed for those new to Model UN. That said, we also have novice and advanced committees for experienced delegates. All levels receive guidance and support from our UPenn Secretariat.
What committees will be at ILMUNC Dubai 2026?
We’re featuring seven specialized committees:
- SOCHUM, SPECPOL
- Commission on the Status of Women, Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice
- International Atomic Energy Agency, Vatican City Crisis Committee
- Additional committee(s) to be finalized
Each committee explores two topics, allowing flexibility in delegate interests.
What should I prepare before arriving at the conference?
Delegates typically prepare a position paper for their assigned country and committee topic (2-3 pages). Guidelines and templates will be provided. We also recommend:
- Researching your country’s foreign policy
- Understanding the committee topic from multiple perspectives
- Practicing public speaking
- Thinking about potential policy solutions
Will there be networking and social opportunities?
Absolutely! ILMUNC Dubai includes social mixers, networking sessions, and informal time for delegates to connect with peers from around the world. The conference is as much about building lasting friendships and professional networks as it is about debate.
